Treehouse in the town forest

The unique tree house, which is entirely made of Douglas, wood from the town forest, is designed as a small informative and educational center for the town forest intended for school groups and individual visitors of the forest. This is also the largest tree house in Slovenia, also well known abroad. From the initially modest tree observatory, it has grown into an open, universal meeting place, in which almost anything can happen: the house almost magically acts as a magnet for individual, family or group and school visits, to becoming a real lab for exploring and eavesdropping trees, a space for various creative workshops, outdoor and indoor concerts, poetry evenings and exhibitions ... The house is also subject to special expert attention from international foresters, biologists, ecologists, artists, and architects, who have already received many professional recognitions.

The tour is free, but it can also be rented. The house accepts up to 30 people at a time. In the event bad weather, the house is closed.

How to get to the house
  • On foot: The tree house is accessible through an undemanding forest path. The path from the railway station leads past the hotel Evropa, Prešernova ulica to Glavni trg, Gosposka ulica to the Central Library, across the Splavarski most, Partizanska cesta to the Meškov studenec, and from there, up the wooden stairs to the hill, from where we are led by the tree observatory signposts in the forest.
  • By car to the start of the footpath: Motorway Ljubljana – Maribor, take the exit Celje center and take the Maribor road through the city across the bridge over Savinja. Right after the bridge, turn right passing the City Park to the parking lot for the Tree House on the left (Partizanska ulica 5). From here, we continue about 50 m on foot from Partizanska cesta to Meškov studenec. From there, we take the wooden stairs up the hill, from where we can follow the signposts in the woods to the tree observatory.
